Sono circa 260 le ditte italiane aperte in questi ultimi tempi in Inghilterra che hanno usufruito del servizio completamente gratuito dell’UK Trade & Investment e del London & Partners, le agenzie senza scopo di lucro istituite per gestire e coodinare gli investimenti, soprattutto esteri, nella capitale inglese. UK IT, in collaborazione con la Camera di Commercio & Industria Italiana nel Regno Unito, presta assistenza alle imprese italiane che vogliono insediarsi a Londra. Qualsiasi persona puo iniziare un’attività in proprio, dall'oggi al domani, senza nessun cavillo burocratico; con poco più di 100 euro si può registrare una società a responsabilità limitata e chiedere un prestito in banca per poter iniziare l'attività. Le nuove imprese possono pure ottenere gratuitamente un desk anche in pieno centro, per il primo anno.

   L’organizzazione ed il support che viene offerto alle aziende, dopo aver attirato gli investimenti sul territorio inglese, sono davvero lodevoli. Con il UK Trade & Investment e l’Ente Camerale Italiano esistono reali opportunità per un’azienda della nostra Penisola che voglia investire ed operare a Londra di usuffruire del servizio di due strutture bene organizzate, radicate sul territorio e specializzate nel supportare un investitore a 360 gradi. È stupefacente la sicurezza con cui si muove la Camera di Commercio Italiana di Londra, aiutando le imprese italiane a far sì che ogni obiettivo si concretizzi nei modi e nei tempi desiderati.

   Sulla scia delle celebrazioni dell’Unità d’Italia, la Camera di Commercio ha organizzato la "London Conference" alla Church House, seguita da un pranzo di gala. All'interessantissima conferenza sono intervenuti eminenti personaggi del mondo degli affari, guidati dal presidente Leonardo Simonelli Santi nel suo ruolo di moderatore: Marco Mancini, dell’Ambasciata d’Italia; Martin Phelan e Jean-Louis Bravard rispettivamente UK IT e London Partners che hanno spiegato come aprire un’azienda in Gran Bretagna; Ettore Nicoletto, Santa Margherita Spa; Michele Bauli; Bauli Spa; Annamaria Moretto; Laica Spa; Riccardo Lodigiani; Replay Spa; Luigi Belluzzo; Belluzzo e Associati; Stefano Carcascio; Banca d’Italia; Fabrizio Marchetti; Banco Popolare.

   Qui di seguito abbiamo il piacere di pubblicare il discorso di introduzione del presidente della Camera di Commercio ed Industria Italiana nel Regno Unito, Cavaliere di Gran Croce Leonardo Simonelli Santi: "Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to thank you all for coming, and in good numbers! I would particularly like to thank the speakers of this panel, especially those who have come from abroad. I know you all have very busy schedules. I would also especially like to thank Mr Martin Phelan, representative of UK TI, and Mr Jean-Louis Bravard, representing London Partners, two institutions to which the Chamber is grateful for their efforts in helping Italian companies feel welcome in London.

   It could seem complacent that we are here to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Italian Unification in a week where the markets have strongly doubted the solvency of our country (and the danger is not over, although at the end of the week with the announced change of the political scenario there has been an inversion in the negative trend). It is also true that Italians have many faults and can, in certain cases, bearrogant at the wrong times, something that can create resentment and which has not helped international relations. Of the English it could be said that they can be very annoying especially when they are right. Of the Italians that they feel offended when they are wrong.

   Our bureaucracy issubstandard, expensiveand holds far too much power. I could go on but I must stop because I love my country. The role of our Chamber is to promote the increasing economic cooperation between Italy and the UK and in spite of what I said, this economic cooperation has greatly increased and we hope it will continue to do so. Besides, over the past 150 years there have often been difficult periods, yet these have always been over come with a sense of unity and the help of other nations.

   In fact, with faults, we also find qualities. Most Italians love their work and are committed to their professional objectives. Whenthey go abroad they are generally successful in business and they integrate well, remaining attachedt o their origins. They try to be an efficient interface for economic and cultural cooperation. In the UK we are fortunate to have found a very hospitable environment. 

  Tonight the Chamber is proud to have representatives of companies and institutions that have prospered both in Italy and abroad. We are here to celebrate their excellence and we can draw hope from their enterprise that Italy will over come this difficult period and will continue to be part of a Europe characterisedby growth and peace, contributing to a better world".
